Vacuum Store Cat

I was rushing up Court Street in Brooklyn to see my friend Olga on Saturday when I spotted this little cat sitting in the window of a vacuum cleaner store. I stopped to take its picture and it was so cute because it noticed me and leaned in, looking like it wanted me to pat it through the glass :-D

Puffy

My boyfriend saw this cat Puffy at the pet store across the street from where he lives in Park Slope.  Cute!

Scoodle

Jimmy saw this adorable cat on 19th Avenue near my house today.  He found her smelling garbage through a hole in a trash bag.  When I asked him what he wanted to name this cat, he suggested "Scoodle," which I think is a pretty high honor, seeing as it is a combination of Scribble and Doodle's names.  But I decided it was okay, because this cat has fur kind of like Scribble, and was trash-picking, just like Doodle.

Here she is, trying to get at some goodies:

Scoodle says, "Can I help you?"

Tiny

Jimmy saw this cat today (or, technically, yesterday) at the vet where he gets fluids for his kittycat Isis.  He said this girlcat, Tiny, is very loving and snuggly.  And she needs a home!  Adopt her here.

Williamsburg Wall Cats (and Dogs)

Will was in Williamsburg over the weekend and found this cat and dog art on a wall there.

L.A. Graffiti Cats

My fabulous friend Heidi is in Los Angeles doing fieldwork this week, and she sent me some more West Coast kitty pictures!  Here are two examples of kittiffiti that she found in Los Feliz.

Marcelo

Jimmy and I were in Sunset Park late last night walking up 9th Avenue to the D train when we saw this adorable, little, long-hair cat!  He was super friendly and wanted to rub all over us, so I was a bit hesitant to pat him in case he was rabid.  But, I learned, he was not rabid at all.  He is just a friendly bodega cat.

Here he is, hanging out with his owner and a store patron:

Ollie's Place

Here is a picture of Ollie's, a no-kill stray rescues in the East Village, that Heidi sent me.  Kitties need love!

Pet Memorial

Heidi sent me this pet memorial mural that is at the Whiskers Holistic Pet Care store in the East Village.

Cat Bookends

Jimmy and I went to the first Saturday event at the Brooklyn Museum last night and discovered this set of copper cat bookends made by the Chase Brass and Copper company in the early 1930s in the storage space on the fifth floor.

Desperate Cat

I was walking home from the gym this evening when this adorable black cat came running toward me.  It must have know that I am a crazy cat lady because sat at my feet, rubbed all over me, and put its paws on my knee when I bent down to pat it.  It certainly seemed well-fed, so I am a bit worried that it somehow escaped from its home and is now lost.  I hope it reunites with its owners soon :-/

(Note: The picture, admittedly, looks like crap, but it would have just been a photo of blackness if it weren't for my new discovery of auto-adjust.)

Cat Hat

Heidi sent me a picture of this cat hat today.  Here is her story:

"Ok, so the wittle hat I found on the street in Cobble Hill where some parent is probably listening to a lil girl cry over losing it.  I put it on the meter in hopes they'd return and find it and realized it was a kit [cat] and so propped up her ears for a shoot."

Berecat

Heidi went to Bereket, a Turkish restaurant on Houston Street, the other day and sent me a picture of their cute sign.  Meow :-D

High Dive Graffiti Cats

Heidi and I went to High Dive in Park Slope on Thursday night for adult beverages and found that they've managed to (somewhat) control drunk people's urges to scribble on bathroom walls there by painting them with chalkboard paint and providing colored chalk.  Other High Dive patrons must also like cats, because we discovered kitty doodles in each bathroom!

(Note: Notice any cameos in this post? Comment, and get a gold star!)

(Another note: I just figured out how to adjust the shitty pictures that my cell phone takes in the dark. Hopefully that means we will see more cats, rather than photos of blackness with a red circle indicating a cat's location.)

Rudy Kittiani

Damnit, you can't see the cat at all in this picture, but I saw it on my block tonight.  It is a very adorable white cat with big orange splotches.  It is also very rude, as I saw it peeing on the house's trash cans.  It is peeking through the fence in this picture.

DJ Catty

I saw this DJ cat in a wag.com advertisement when I was on the N train with Heidi this evening.  I especially love the I <3 its="its" on="on" p="p" sticker="sticker" tuna="tuna" turntable.="turntable.">
Here is another cute kitty from the same ad campaign:

(Note: I am annoyed right now that I cannot use quotation marks in my posts because it makes all kinds of code visible in my text.  Lame, Google!  Fix that, please.)

Lucky Black Cat

Heidi got mad at me today because I forgot to post this cat that she saw in Dyker Heights the other day.  It is very cute!

Fat Cat Stamp

Jimmy and I went to Fat Cat, where we went on our first date, on Sunday night.  We were sitting at the bar when I noticed the stamps they branded us with at the door (to distinguish us from the 12-year-olds whose parents are neither willing to abandon their youth nor hire a babysitter).  I told Jimmy that I liked his rabbit.  He told me it was a cat (creepy-looking, albeit)--we were at Fat Cat, after all :-P

MoMA Cat

I celebrated the new year today by visiting the Museum of Modern Art with my boyfriend, where we saw this painting by Paul Klee entitled "Bird and Cat."  It looks like the cat is thinking about his next meal... The best part of this picture is how his nose is a heart
