Morningside Park Cats Are Out of CoNtRoL

Here's another one! Sent by Jimmy. He walks by the park every day, so you can expect many more Morningside Park cats.

City Turtle

I walked to Central Park yesterday morning and noticed this turtle swimming in the Harlem Meer. It made me wonder if it had been a pet that was left behind in the pond or if turtles are a natural part of the park.

City Island Kitty

I went to City Island today and was hoping to see a city kitty. At one point I walked down a side street to see Hart Island, which is pretty interesting by the way, when I saw a flash of orange. It was a little calico babycat! She is very little and keeeeeet!!!!

Best Friends

I'm not sure if I mentioned that I have a new roommate--two new roommates actually. Jimmy and I both had to move to Harlem to be closer to work, so we decided to join financial forces to get a pretty awesome place to live.

I was pleasantly surprised when I found that Scribble and Doodle were totally cool with living with Gypsy, but Gyp Gyp has been a pretty big grump about her new catfriends for the past few weeks. Well, today they all decided that they would relax on Jimmy's bed, and it was the cutest thing ever!!!!!

Green Giant

I was walking down the street the other night when I noticed a teeeeeeny tiny little babycat in a corner store near my apartment. She is soooooo little, so I thought it was a little ironic that her name is Green Giant. Maybe they named her after the canned vegetables that they sell in the store?

City Chickens

I was walking through East Harlem earlier this evening when I saw a chicken coop under the metronorth at 117th Street! There were several chickens living there. I can't imagine that it is all that pleasant living under the train.

Seeing the chickens today reminded me that last month I saw another chicken coop in Brooklyn, somewhere maybe in Clinton Hill? I don't know that area of Brooklyn all that well. Anyway, here they are:

My Own Morningside Cat

Jimmy sees Morningside Park cats all the time, but last weekend I spotted one of my own! I guess it's not that much of an accomplishment considering how many cats live in that park.

Scrib and Pige

Scribble loves, loves, LOVES birds, but she isn't able to get all that close to them usually. But a couple of days ago a pigeon was hanging out for a while on the fire escape and Scribble was entranced. The pigeon seemed pretty interested in her, too.

More Morningside

Another Morningside Park cat that Jimmy saw. I hope someone is fixing the cats over there! There are an awful lot of them...

Los Cuatro Amigos

Jimmy and I were walking up Pleasant Ave. (which I never knew existed) in East Harlem last weekend after going to Target when we noticed a little cat in Los Amigos community garden. He had just bought Gypsy some treats, so we tossed some to the kitty. Then the kitty's friends all started coming out of the woodwork! There were four, and they all enjoyed the treats.

Doodle's New Friend

Last week I saw Doodle staring longingly out the window of his new apartment. As it turns out, he had made a friend across the street C-:

Brownstone Cat

Jimmy saw this cat in an abandoned brownstone.

School Cat

Jimmy saw this kitty near Columbia recently.

LIC Cat

Jen, Jinwon, and I met at Transmitter brewery in Long Island City last night to try some fabulous beers. On her way there, Jen saw this cat squished against the window of a pet store.

Gagopa Cat

Jimmy's birthday was last weekend, so we celebrated with some friends by singing karaoke at Gagopa in Koreatown. The place was pretty awesome, but especially because they have a resident cat!

Crazy Number of Morningside Park Cats

Jimmy sent me about a billion pictures of Morningside Park cats in the last couple of weeks. Here they are!

Movin' On Up (Town)

My dear friend Jen drove me and my kitties from Bensonhurst to our new home in Harlem this weekend. Here is Doodle Donut enjoying the ride. He is very happy because he now lives closer to his home borough of the Bronx!

Harlem Cat Friends

I moved to Harlem this weekend and was a little worried that I might see fewer City Kitties now that I live in Manhattan. This fear proved to be unfounded because I've already seen four kitties!

This one in Morningside Park:

This one on 126th:

And these two on Lexington near what will probably become my drop-off laundry place (P.S. Why is drop off laundry so expensive in Harlem?!?!?!):
