City Kitties Travels: Té Negro y Earl Grey

Reporting directly from Guatemala, Heidi made friends with these two little innkeepers at the Posada de Santiago on Lago Atitlan.  Presenting: Té Negro (above) and Earl Grey (below) (note the family tail).

Princess

I met this cat at a pet store in Chelsea today.  Princess is super sweet and playful... and LITTLE!  You wouldn't be able to tell from looking at her, but she is tiny underneath all that fluff.

Commuter

My boyfriend and I went on a day trip to Beacon, New York today, and on the way back as we were pulling into Grand Central I overheard a woman comment to another woman about how she was surprised at how quiet the cat was.  "Cat?!?," I immediately thought.  Indeed, there was a cute little cat commuting back to the city with us.  Many thanks to Jimmy for being the creepy weirdo I can never bring myself to be (well... that's not entirely true) and taking a picture of the cat.

Cat Napkin

Jimmy and I were at Owl Farm the other day and decided to draw our favorite cats: Scribble (with bags and shoes), Doodle (eating lots of kibbles), Gypsy (being fat with an empty bowl of food), Isis (getting her fluids) and Lil Bub (being super cuuuute!).

Gowanus Grafkitty

A very sweet graffiti cat that Heidi saw in Gowanus, Brooklyn.  The artist must have been inspired by Doodle!

Jackpot

Heidi had an extremely successful cat-finding Saturday this weekend.  Here is a cutie she saw in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn.

Peter

Heidi saw Peter, an adorable black cat, who lives at NYC Pet pet store in Park Slope, Brooklyn.  He looks comfy!

Ersatz Doodle II

Just last weekend I spotted and Ersatz Doodle in Bay Ridge.  Apparently that wasn't the only Doodle imposter in south Brooklyn!  Heidi just saw this one in Dyker Heights.

Maddie

Jimmy's friends David and Alisa adopted Maddie a few months ago.  She is a lucky cat, because she got to enjoy the beautiful weather yesterday at the park in Brooklyn!

Shadow

My brother Dave and his girlfriend Nina were visiting me this weekend from Boston and we spent Friday evening at a beer garden and later got dinner in Park Slope.  At some point during our intoxicated wanderings in the neighborhood Nina spotted this adorable black cat in the shadows, and she was brave enough to pick him up!  I think Shadow really enjoyed the love he got :-D

Aten

Suzy sent me this picture of her friend Aiden with his cat Aten!  Aten lives in Somers, Connecticut and has double paws that clickity clack when he walks across the kitchen floor.  He looks super soft and fuzzy.  So cute!!

Headlights

I saw this kitty last night a block or two from where I live in Bensonhurst.  The picture isn't so great, but she was small and grey, and meowed a ton!  She kept a safe distance from me, but as I walked away I turned around and noticed she was following me.  I told her to stay, walked away again, and she continued to follow.  I wanted to bring her home!

Happy 7th Birthday, Scribble!

I can't believe my little babycat turns seven today!  It seems like just yesterday she came home from the shelter as a tiny four-month-old kitten.  (To clarify, I just estimated May 1 as her birthday, since I got her at four months in early September.)

In the past nearly seven years, Scribble hasn't changed a bit--well, she isn't running sideways on the wall anymore... In fact, in true Scribble fashion, this morning as I was singing "Happy Birthday" to her, she looked at me and walked away.  Later, as I held her so she could hear the whole song, she tried to wriggle her way out of my arms.  But these are some of the many reasons why I love her so much.

In celebration of Baby Rib's birthday, I wanted to share a few pictures from her first year of life.  Enjoy!
The above picture was taken the first day or two I had Scribble (then named Libby, as I kept forgetting her name from the shelter was Lilly).  You can see that she's still got the shelter collar on.

Here is Scribble with her first pot of cat grass, before she ate it all.

This is one of my favorite pictures of baby Scrib.  Not long after this photograph was taken, the tree no longer had any leaves.  She loooooved to destroy it.

And, finally, here is Scribble discovering her love of bags... although she quickly upgraded from plastic shopping bags to purses.
