Winnie

Jimmy was in Chinatown today getting a snack when he saw this cat sitting outside a place called "Winnie's." It ran back inside before he could get a picture of it, so he waited for it to come back out!  I have such a nice, dedicated, equally cat-obsessed boyfriend :-D

City Kitties Travels: Just One More AC Cat!

Here's a chubster orange cat who lives under the Atlantic City boardwalk.  He reminded me of Doodle!

City Kitties Travels: One More Boardwalk Cat!

Here is another Atlantic City cat who popped out from under the boardwalk to say "hi" last night :-D

City Kitties Travels: Atlantic City Boardwalk Cats

There are a surprising number of cats who live under the Atlantic City boardwalk, and I saw at least five of them while there this week.  We already met Ambassador and Sandy.  Here are three more!

One reason why so many cats live under the boardwalk is because people abandon them there :-C  But luckily a group of volunteers takes care of the cats by getting them their shots, getting them fixed, feeding them, and leaving water.  The cats are actually kind of chubster, so it is nice to know they are well-fed.  I would have been much more sad to see so many stray cats if I hadn't seen this sign before I saw any of the kitties:

City Kitties Travels: Sandy

One cat that Ambassador introduced me and Jimmy to is Sandy.  Sandy also lives under the Atlantic City boardwalk.  His name is Sandy because he is so sandy!  I guess that will happen to a cat who lives on the beach, although Ambassador wasn't nearly as sandy as Sandy was.

Here are Ambassador and Sandy hanging out:

And Sandy smelling Ambassador:

Love!

City Kitties Travels: Ambassador

I got more than I was expecting in terms of city kitties in Atlantic City this week!  Last night my boyfriend and I were on the boardwalk when we met Ambassador.  He is a tourist greeter, just like the human "ambassadors" the Atlantic City tourism commission employs.  He was very friendly, and even introduced us to his cat friends!  The above photo is from last night, and the one below is one from this afternoon when we bumped into him again.

One more Ambassador picture from Jimmy!

City Kitties Travels: Jasmine

Jimmy and I did a trip to Atlantic City this week and I was really hoping to find a city kitty.  Well, I got my wish with Jasmine!  Jasmine is the pet of one of the boardwalk rickshaw-like drivers.  Cute!

Laser Cat

You might remember Tucker, Jen and Colette's shy little cat.  Well here he is being so fierce that he got laser eyes!  Cute!  >^..^<

Doodle's Girlfriend

I saw this fluffy cat across the way from my apartment the other day and tried to take her picture, but she ran away.  Luckily, she was there again this morning, looking at Doodle looking at her.  They make such a cute couple!

City Kitties Travels: James

Yesterday Jimmy and I stopped by Rushing Duck Brewery in Chester, New York to get some micro brews.  We discovered that not only did they have lots of delicious (free) beer, they also had this adorable cat, James!  He was super friendly and social, and mingled with everyone on the brewery tour.

Edward Hopper's Cat

Jimmy and I stopped by Nyack on our way to Cragsmoor in upstate New York yesterday to get lunch and poke around.  I brought him to the Edward Hopper House, where I was surprised to find that since I was there last they got some of his own works on loan to put on display.  Here is his new year card featuring a cat!

Cat Dog

I often call my cat Doodle a cat dog because he is so much like a dog: he wants to eat all the time, comes when I call him, and greets me at the door.  But he is not doglike in that he isn't a huge fan of taking walks outside; he hasn't been outdoors since I last moved and is perfectly content with that.  This cat, that my friend Heidi saw in Chinatown, on the other hand, is probably the definition of a cat dog because it is happy to go for walks.

Precious: An Adventure Story

When I arrived at Jimmy's apartment about a half hour ago, he had just discovered this cute little cat in the hallway of his building.  The poor cat was missing part of its tail, so I assumed she was homeless.  She decided to come into the apartment, so we corralled her into the bathroom and gave her some food and water.  Meanwhile, I sent Jimmy to ask his neighbors if they were missing a cat.  None were until we got to the last unit and she was theirs!

I was so relieved to find her home :-D
