Runaway Cat

I have a terrible story to recount.

Today I was in Brighton Beach with Jen, and we saw a couple with a cat in a cat carrier--one of those plastic ones where the top and bottom are held together by flimsy, plastic attachments. The bottom loosened from the top and the kitty inside jumped out of the carrier and ran down the street! Jen, the woman and I all ran after the kitty, which was running in the road. A couple of blocks down, we found it under a car. The lady was not so smart, though, because she did not want us to help her catch the cat, which was running from car to car, hiding under them, so we left her alone. I hope she was able to catch her cat :-/

Construction Cat

I saw this kitty this morning when I was walking home from the gym. It was watching the construction workers who have been working on the building next door to mine intently. It didn't even notice me standing behind it digging around for my phone until I took it's picture. Then it ran away.

This cat reminded me of my parent's cat, Dewey, who loves to hang out with my dad while he is working on cars. Maybe these cats were handymen in their previous lives.

Theodore and Henry

Suzy noticed a kitty this morning while we were out in my neighborhood. As we got closer, we saw that there were TWO kitties! Suzy named them Theodore and Henry.

Henry was more reserved and kept his distance, while Theodore was a bit more bold. Here he is checking Suzy out.

Marquise

I went in a new-ish liquor store in my neighborhood today and was greeted by Marquise at the door! He is so fluffy!!!!

Guard Cat

I've always known that Doodle is a catdog. This is painfully obvious given the way he inhales his kibble like he hasn't eaten in weeks. But this morning he demonstrated his catdogness and guard cat nature when something very weird happened.

I was sitting quietly at my desk working on a paper (that is about to be published!!!) when someone rang my doorbell from downstairs. I, of course, ignored it and continued minding my own business. Then about a minute later, Doodle started growling and ran to the door. So I went to my door and looked out the peep hole and some random man was standing outside my door, doing nothing. Then I saw a second man through my peep hole!!! They were just standing there, looking at my door. So I walked away, and called a friend. While we were on the phone they started knocking incessantly, so finally I asked them through the door what they wanted. They then asked if I spoke Spanish, so I lied and said no. They said okay, and left (I hope. I have yet to go outside to confirm this because I am scared.).

So I should post this tribute to Doodle, my guard cat, in appreciation for his willingness to put his cat safety on the line to protect me (or maybe he is just protecting his kibble stash?).

I am also posting this in case something terrible and tragic happens to me.

Hanger-on

I can't really remember the story behind this cat, but I think it is a cat Heidi saw outside a pet store in Park Slope.  It is, therefore, a hanger-on cat.

Cat Truck

Heidi saw this truck on the Upper West Side.

KEEEEEEEEEET!!!! (Heidi, that one is especially for you!)
