Spot

Jimmy and I saw this kitty sitting on its stoop in Park Slope last evening.  He was super friendly, coming out to greet us, rubbing all over our legs, and rolling on the ground.  At first I was going to name him Bella (even though I feel like he is a boy) because he was wearing a bell on his collar, but as we left one of his neighbors arrived at the building and asked him "Spot, what are you doing outside?"

Los del Morro

Heidi sent me these two cats she saw at el morro in Puerto Rico yesterday!

Hal

Jimmy spotted this kitty in the window when we were walking back to his apartment from Prospect Park last night.  I named him Hal because he looks like a Halloween cat with the orange background.

Subway-Track Kittens

While I was waiting on the D, N, R platform at Atlantic Avenue to go to work earlier this afternoon a Q train pulled up on the R track.  Now I know why!  I hope the kittens got out of the tracks :-C

Note: I tried to embed the video of them playing under the third rail, but it wouldn't publish, so click the link to see them.

Hip-Hop Kitties

Jimmy saw this at his work the other day.  I think my favorites are Litter Kim and Ghostface Kittah.

Friend of Fat Man

There is a morbidly obese man who I see sitting by the window in his apartment nearly every time I walk to the laundromat.  Sometimes there is a dog in the window, and I thought I had seen a cat once but never saw it again.  Well, here it is today.  The obese man was also sitting there so I had to take the picture from an angle where he and I wouldn't see each other.  Awkward.

This. Video. Is. Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you to Heidi for sharing it with me.

Real Aristocats

Jimmy and I were on Third Ave. (Gowanus?) in Brooklyn the other night when we spotted a little black cat running into a parking lot.  We followed it and found three or four alley cats who were enjoying the spread of kibble laid out for them behind an Italian social club.

Grumpy Cat's Book

Jimmy surprised me last night when he asked me if he could see my new Lil Bub book.  When I went to retrieve it, I saw this book instead!  (Bub was still safely underneath Grumpy.)  Thank you, Jimmy!

Although Lil Bub is adorable, I think Grumpy Cat matches my sense of humor quite well.  Below is my favorite meme of all time:

Lil Bub's Lil Book

I am so lucky.  I have Lil Bub's new book--and it isn't even available for purchase until September 3!

Bad Kitty

Owl Farm is one of my favorite bars lately, and it has cute owl drawings all over the walls.  When I was there they other day, I discovered this one.  How rude!

Glasha

Olga sent me these pictures of her cousin's super pretty cat, Glasha!  Glasha lives in Russia, making her my first post of an Eastern European cat :-D

Smart, Part II

Heidi sent me this cat yesterday:

"Grand Street market kitty.  I think he's a repeat, but worth repeating.  Very friendly."

Indeed, he is a repeat, but he is super cute >^..^<

Woody

I took a trip to Fort Tryon Park yesterday with Jimmy and told him about how a few years ago I saw a groundhog in the park.  Then, about 40 minutes later, Jimmy saw one from the terrace of The Cloisters!  We made our way back outside to get a better look at him.  I wonder if Woody is the same groundhog (also known as woodchuck) that I met before.

Herbie

Jimmy and I spotted this adorable orangecat on East Broadway in Chinatown yesterday.  I named him Herbie because he lives at a Chinese herb/medicinal shop.

"Your Neighbor"

Heidi saw this cat last week near my apartment when she came to visit my babycats, Scribble and Doodle!  She named it "Your Neighbor" because it is, indeed, my neighbor.  In fact, I think I may have seen him tonight when I was on my way into my building.

City Kitties Travels: Lion Dance

I attended Jimmy's friends' wedding in Napa Valley this past weekend and they had a surprise Chinese lion dance.  Although they aren't real kitties, I figured they deserved a post.  The dancers did a nice job making the costumes truly feline (read: grooming, scratching).

City Kitties Travels: West Coast Animals

When I left for my road trip of the west coast two weeks ago I had no idea how many cute animals I would meet.  Just because they aren't cats doesn't mean they're not worth sharing.

To begin, we stayed with Jimmy's uncle Joe who owns two horses.  One of them, Koda, was staying at a training camp of sorts when we first arrived, so his other horse and a neighbor's horse were living at his house:
The first full day we were there we went with Joe and his daughter Alicia to see where Koda has been training.  Here is Koda being brushed by Joe:
There were a lot of other horses at this stable, including a baby:
and this one who got to hang out outside:

We met some cute fowl on our trip, too, including ducks swimming in the canals in Venice:
and chickens at a winery in St. Helena in Napa Valley:

We also spotted deer in MontaƱa de Oro state park in Los Osos, California:

Some of my favorite animals were the marine mammals, including sea lions in San Francisco:

elephant seals near San Simeon, CA:
and the seals (or, seagypsys) in La Jolla:

Jimmy's friends also have some super cute dogs.  Jenny and Joe's dog is named Ana:
While I admire Ana's endless energy, I especially liked Jason's dog, Goldie, who was happy to simply quietly lay about:
Goldie has a roommate named Bella.  Here they are waiting to get some treats:

But as amazing and adorable as all of these animals are, none can match the cuteness that is Bo, the chinchilla.  We met Bo around midnight when we returned to Seattle from our road trip.  He was sitting in his cage in Uncle Joe's living room.  Joe is taking care of Bo while Bo's owners are on vacation.  Although he was a bit skittish at first, he warmed up to Jimmy and me after we gave him a few raisins (which you can see he is eating in this picture).  He was still wary about being picked up, but we got to pat him!

City Kitties Travels: Rick

Rick is another cat that Jimmy and I spotted at the Venice Canals in Los Angeles.  He was out on his porch with his owner, who kindly showed him off.

City Kitties Travels: Sleepyhead

Jimmy and I were walking around the Venice Canals in Los Angeles, which are pretty cool because they go right past people nice little houses and porches, when we saw this adorable cat sleeping on a bench.  We tried to wake it up to get a better picture, but it was fast asleep.  zzzzzz.

City Kitties Travels: Itty Bitty Welcome Committee

I've technically been to California twice before (I guess stepping over the state line from Nevada and having a layover at LAX don't really count), but on my first real trip to the state I was super surprised to find this itty bitty welcome committee at the first rest stop on I-5 south somewhere near Yreka.  The cats were so cute, but I also wondered if some turdface abandoned them there :-C
